Frost Protection

In a time period during spring with risks of frost at night, it is observed that at height 15 m the temperature is higher than at tree - height. So what we do is mix the 'warmer' air at height 15 m with the 'colder' air at 2 m. In most circumstances we gain enough so that critical temperatures are not reached.

The best protection is given when more air can be mixed. Orchard - Rite's experience and knowledge is the best. The blades are especially developed in air-tunnel. The gear boxes are very stable and robust.
Orchard Rite machines cover most surface, and are very very reliable.
Do NOT believe 'stories' indicating they can protect more surface than we do…

Of course this depends upon 'how deep' the frost is, and the other weather conditions. We do have customers that inform us their protected area is 7 Ha. Others say it is 6,5 Ha.
The elder models (2100 and 2500) protected 5 - 5,5 Ha.

Indeed there exist several models. The most popular machine is the 2600 model full auto start, with LPG Ford engine.
We also have CAT engine possibility. However maintenance, diesel - theft, price… are issues that our customers are aware, at the end turning them to LPG…

We also have available a mobile machine. These are more expensive, and the protected surface is less… So only orchards that really do need the machines to be evacuated after the frost season take these machines.

Orchard Rite has launched a 3 - blade machine.. This makes less noise. However… is more expensive…

We can guarantee you that the wind machines do last really long time. Machines installed 25 years ago are still operational.. they required very basic yearly maintenance… and that is it…
