Ultrasound in combination with the HS technique, can be used to break up the biofilm, removing the substrate for bacteria. With ultrasound vibrations in a broad range of frequencies, the cell walls of bacteria are ruptured by degrading the enczymes and protein chains present.
By turning to the correct frequencies, the bacteria are eliminated and can be flushed out.

Biofilm occurs anywhere water accumulates. That slimy layer is built of proteins produced by bacteria. The biofilm provides the feeding base/foundation and provides protection for all kinds of bacteria, hiding and multiplying in this biofilm. Eliminating the biofilm, eliminates the bacteria problem.
Biofilm formation/deposition can block pipes, form clots, lead to corrosion.
Tough bacterial contamination cannot always be solved with chemical cleaning, as harmful bacteria have higher resistance against detergents and disinfections.

There is no re-colonisation, because the bacteria have died off and the nutrient substrate and adhesive layer have been eliminated at the same time.
Ultrasound does not cause corrosion of the pipes, and there is no effect of any kind on taste or odor.
